Get Cooking

By Ruth Barnard

These Jungle Book inspired popsicles are filled with delicious fruit that Baloo the bear loves to eat! Sit back and enjoy the soft creamy coconut and banana top, and be refreshed by the orange, sweet mango and pineapple base.

“I mean the bare necessities Old Mother Nature's recipes That brings the bare necessities of life” – Baloo, Disney's Jungle Book.

Makes approx 10 popsicles. Any leftover ingredients could be combined to make a Jungle Book smoothie or juice.

  • 1 tin of full fat coconut cream.

  • 1 banana.

  • Vanilla essence (optional).

  • Honey (optional).

  • 1 cup of mango nectar.

  • 1 cup crushed pineapple.

  • Juice of 1 orange.

Kitchen Equipment

You will need parental permission and supervision for your safety.

  • Knife and chopping board.

  • Blender.

  • Popsicle moulds.

Coco-nana Top.

Pine-orango Base

Now for the base which should be as orange as Disney's King Louie!

Hint: The higher up you pour from the more your two colours will blend into one. But feel free to experiment and let us know what cool effects you created!

Cool it and Relax.

Fruity Inspiration.

When Baloo sings ‘The Bare Necessities' in Disney's Jungle Book he dances around the jungle and finds lots of things to eat including coconut, banana , prickly pears, Big paw paws and ants. He even sings about bees making him honey. We decided not to add ants of course and substituted the prickly pears and paw paw for mango, pineapple and orange. Feel free to experiment with your favourite fruit too!
