Easy Mother's Day breakfast any kid can make

Whether you treat Mum to breakfast in bed, or choose to eat together, these easy
and super yummy breakfast ideas will wow everyone.


Fancy Breakfast Toast

Rather than reaching for your usual toppings, try these tasty, gourmet ideas:

  • Spread ricotta cheese on toasted bread. Add sliced strawberries, blueberries or sultanas.

  • Layer peanut butter, sliced banana and sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon.




Good Morning Muesli Trifle

All you need for this simple recipe is a tall glass, Mum's favourite muesli, honey-sweetened Greek yoghurt and fruit to top.

Spoon a layer of muesli into the bottom of the glass. Use the spoon to push the muesli down into a flat layer. Next, spoon a layer of yoghurt into the glass. Repeat until the glass is full. Top with sliced fruit.

To really impress, layer another glass with different coloured, sliced fruit and serve alongside the muesli trifle.


Muffin Mug

Surprise Mum with a fresh, homemade blueberry muffin. This recipe only takes five minutes to prepare and 90 seconds to cook.

What you need:

  • ¼ cup self-raising flour

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • ½ tablespoon margarine

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 2 tablespoons frozen blueberries

  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • 1 microwave safe mug


What to do:

  • Mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon together in the mug.

  • Add the margarine and use your fingers (or a teaspoon) to smoosh the margarine into the dry mixture until no large chunks remain.

  • Add milk and stir into the mixture until you have a thick batter. If the mixture is too dry, add a little more milk.

  • Place the blueberries on top of the mixture and gently push them down into the batter.

  • Microwave 90 seconds. Every microwave is different, so start by only microwaving your muffin for 60 seconds.
  • Wait for the muffin to cool and enjoy!

Make sure you ask an adult before using the microwave.
