By Ruth Barnard

Celebrate International Friendship Day (July 30th) by making a unique collage card filled with everything your friend loves. You can do this craft on your own or with friends and family.

What you need:

• Old magazines

• Scissors

• Glue

• Coloured A4 card

• Envelope- optional

What to do:

1. Decide who you are making your card for

2. Flick through magazines and cut out anything that you think will make your friend smile and collect enough ‘cut outs'
to fill half a page

3. Fold a piece of card in half to create your A5 collage card, you can also fold it in half again to make a smaller A6 card.
The A6 size will be easier to fit into most envelopes

4. Arrange your ‘cut outs' on the front of the card without sticking them down and experiment with a few different arrangements. If there are gaps or it feels like something is missing flick back through the magazines and find some
more images or words to cut out

5. When you have arranged a collage you are happy with, remember where everything sits on the card and carefully
stick it all down

Tips:

• Don't be afraid to cut your images or words in fun ways to create different effects and fit them into your picture. For example: You could take a square photo and cut it into four small squares to create a window effect

• Look for photos with different textures and patterns these make great backgrounds in a collage

• Try tearing the paper as well as cutting it to create a variety of textures

• Use up any leftover cut outs by sticking them inside your card!

Happy Friendship Day Creators!

“Why did you do all this for me?' he asked. 'I don't deserve it. I've never done anything for you.' 'You have been my friend,' replied Charlotte. 'That in itself is a tremendous thing.” ― E.B. White, Charlotte's Web
