Lunchbox inspiration - Health Hub with Sian

I love my lunch!

Hey Upstarters! Are you enjoying summer?

I love getting to the beach for a splash and paddle or just reading my book in the garden. The other thing I love to do is try out new lunchbox ideas with my family.

You know, it is not always an easy job for parents and carers to figure out what to pack for your school lunches… so if you don’t already lend a hand, why not add your ideas into the mix?

Here are a few tips and ideas to add to your lunchbox inspiration!

Food is fuel for our bodies: we need it to give us energy, help us grow, keep us strong, and help us stay well.

It’s fun to try new foods, as well as to munch on the foods you already know and enjoy. Eating a variety of foods is a great way to make sure your body has what it needs to work properly. Here’s a table to help you pick n mix food for your lunchbox.

Choosing one item from each food group below is a simple way of making sure your body is getting the superpowers (nutrients) it needs!

Top lunchbox tips…

  • Include foods you enjoy and foods that help your body work at its best.

  • Each family enjoys different types of food at home, so it’s not surprising that the contents of your lunchbox may look different from others. While you can get some great ideas from friends, there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ thing to eat for lunch!

  • It’s not always possible, but where you can, try to reduce the amount of extra packaging in your lunchbox. Here’s an example: Try buying a big bag of crackers and put a few in a reusable container every day, rather than buying crackers in individual packs.
