His new book is The Good Old Looky Book!

When did you realise that art was an interest you wanted to pursue? Were you inspired by anyone/anything?

In three words, how would you describe your career as an artist/illustrator?
Playful. Inquisitive. Fantastical.

Words of advice for budding illustrators?
Draw what you love. You’ll be inspired to take your ideas much further if you’re passionate about what you’re doing.

Donovan’s top 5 artistic tips

  • Keep a sketchbook.

  • Draw every day – practice makes perfect.

  • Look at artists you like – try to copy what they do.

  • Observe the world.

  • Just do it – don’t wait for permission to be artistic.
