These Mini Chicken Parmesan Burgers are quick and easy to make and are bound to impress your friends and whanau!

What you need:

  • 6 frozen chicken nuggets
OR approx. 300g chicken breast, sliced into 3x3cm pieces
(always ask a grown-up for help before handling raw chicken)

  • 6 slider buns

  • 1/2 cup marinara OR pizza sauce

  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1 tsp crushed garlic

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried or freshly chopped parsley

  • Spinach leaves OR your favourite type of lettuce

REMEMBER: always ask permission from a grown-up before using an oven, or getting to work in the kitchen

What to do:

  1. Prepare the chicken nuggets according to the package instructions.
If using chicken breast, line a baking tray and get a grown-up to help you bake your chicken pieces at 180 degrees celsius until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear.

  2. While the chicken is cooking, cut the slider buns in half to create a burger top and bottom bun.

  3. On the bottom of each slider bun spread marinara or pizza sauce.
Don’t be shy about adding enough to thickly cover the whole piece.

  4. Next, add mozzarella cheese to the top of the sauce.

  5. Once cooked, use tongs to add a hot chicken nugget to the cheese on each slider bun.

  6. Add a spinach leaf on top of each chicken piece and replace the top of each slider bun.

  7. Ask a grown-up to help you to melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave, and then stir through the crushed garlic.

  8. Use a food-safe brush to brush the garlic butter on the top of each of the slider buns.

  9. Top each bun with parsley and grated parmesan cheese.

  10. Bake your sliders in an oven at 180 degrees celsius until the cheese on top has melted.

  11. Serve immediately!
