Hello again Upstart!

I'm still in Taiwan.

Of course I am calling the lovely lady.

And this is what I tell her:

'Hello, lovely lady. It's me, Saffron. Just in case you couldn't hear me before I am still in Lukang at the Lantern Festival. It's still a bit noisy.

The dragon is still around but I am not afraid any more. I quite love it actually.

Mrs Cheung says we must try some tang yuan, which are these sticky buns filled with strange paste.

Sage says, 'Absolutely not!'

Mum says, 'Delicious.'

I say, 'Okay.'

I try one. I quite like it. I like it a lot.

Then Mrs Cheung says, 'Have you noticed the puzzles written on the lanterns?'

I say, 'I am so quite excellent at puzzles!

This is what we do:

We go to the Lantern Puzzle Zone.

Of course I am so good at solving puzzles. I tell Sage and Star Anise that it's all about creativity and imagination. I tell them that general knowledge is also important.

'What is general knowledge?' Sage asks.

I tell her I have no time to answer her at the moment. I am way too busy being creative and solving puzzles. But these puzzles are a little bit strange. They are in Chinese, which of course I am totally excellent at, but they look quite difficult for me today.

So I say, 'I might come back to these tomorrow when I am more rested. I need to be really creative to solve them.'

'Saffron, the puzzles on the lanterns are very difficult to solve. Creativity will not help you. You require plenty of wisdom and a deep knowledge of Chinese language,' Mrs Cheung says.

Of course Sage starts laughing and singing her annoying little song, 'Saffron doesn't knoooowwww, Saffron doesn't knoooow!'

I tell Sage that I know exactly how to solve these puzzles but first I need to have some more tang yuan to inspire my Chinese.

Dad says, 'What a clever idea, Pumpkin!'
