1. Your uncle gives you $50 smackeroos for Christmas. You…

a) Immediately put it away somewhere safe then bank it into your savings account the very next day.

b) You take $20 out to spend on whatever, and give the rest to your mum or dad to look after so you can save it.

c) You take off to the dairy with your mates and buy $20 worth of chippies, chocolate and chewing gum, then head straight to the hamburger joint for 20 bucks worth of hot chips. You give $10 to your mates to head over to PAK’nSAVE for the $1 Budget fizzies on special. Then you all pile around the feed with your skateboards and nosh up large until you feel sick.

d) You take off to Glassons and buy the latest pink floral top and matching lippy… you are sooo going to look like Sharpay now!

 2. Your neighbour owns a dairy and asks if you will help out in the holidays. The job is cleaning and stacking shelves. You…

a) Say yes immediately! Now you can really start earning! You’ll have that new
mountain bike in no time!

b) You agree but not before fi nding out what the hours are and making sure you
still have enough time left to enjoy the holidays with your besties.

c) No way are you taking that job! Not when you can be hanging out with your
mates instead!

d) OMG! Like what would your friends think if they saw you stacking shelves?
And the tunic blue uniform is sooooo not your colour!

3. Your mum forces you to spring clean your room. You end up with a huge pile of old toys, books, DVDs and video games that you’ve since grown out of. You…

a) Give a few things away to a charity for underprivileged kids. Then ask your parents if they can have a garage sale so you can sell the rest.

b) Keep some of it to give away to your friend’s younger sisters and brother and put the rest on Trade Me.

c) Throw a heap in the garbage and pay your little bro to put the rest into boxes like your mum insisted, then take off on your bike with your mates.

d) Shove it all down in the basement. You know your mum will clean it out some time.

 4. You finally have enough money to buy the new toy you’ve been wanting for ages. You…

a) Spend time visiting various stores to find out the best deal. You compare prices, features and quality, then decide which is the best.

b) Decide to hold onto your money for at least another month before you rush in and buy anything… just in case you change your mind.

c) Buy it immediately at the first store you across.

d) You buy the toy, try it out, then become bored with it and decide you want something different.

5. You’ve just bought something you’ve been saving ages for. It breaks, you…

a) Go straight back to the shop where you purchased it and ask for a refund.

b) Talk to your parents or another adult and find out what you should do to return it.

c) Too bad. It was useless anyway.

d) Your sister/brother has the same thing so you secretly swap it.

Mostly a's: Respect! You have lots of cool things because you look after them. Your friends are pretty envious of your stuff. You don't mind working hard for anything and you hate wasting money. You're a great saver! Our only advice is to maybe chill out just a bit so you don't forget to have fun along the way. (4.5 stars)

Mostly b's: Excellent stuff! You know what things are worth and you're prepared to work and save. And you're happy to share your fortunes with others. (4.5 stars)

Mostly c's: Dude!

Mostly d's: OMG
