Magical Memorable Malaysia
By LUCY DAVY Forget Disneyland.
Malaysia, the heart of Asia, is the perfect destination for a child’s vacation.
Excitement is abundant in Malaysia.
Children cannot fail to be impressed by the challenge of climbing 272 steps to the mouth of the Batu Caves, complete with macaque monkeys.
They can enjoy the 60 metre high view from the ‘Eye of Malaysia’, or thread their way along the narrow, precarious rope bridges of the Canopy Walk.
Nature and festivals Children who love nature can relish Malaysia’s rainforests, the oldest on Earth; be mesmeriSed by multi-coloured fish in the world’s largest aquarium; or pat tiny Mouse Deer at Kuala Lumpur’s Deer Park.
The magnificent festivals of Malaysia are lively events for any child to observe.
Deepavali, Chinese New Year and the Moon Festival are just a handful of the colourful, vibrant occasions that occur almost daily.
Sounds and smells Malaysia cuisine is a delicious melting pot of culinary delights, drawing flavours from Chinese, Malay, Indian, Portuguese and Nonya influences.
From Dim Sum to Devil’s Curry, children’s taste buds will be tantalised by the vast array of succulent treats, available from the stalls and restaurants that Malaysia is so famous for.
So many memories Any child returning home after having experienced Malaysia’s magic, will carry with them a suitcase full of experiences.
These memories, both long-lasting and life-changing, will be of much greater significance than a touristy trip to a theme park.
There is no doubt too, that children will want to say: “Se la mat Jalan (Goodbye) Malaysia,” and “Sa Ma Sa Ma (Thank you)!”
